Funding (Benefit Assessment Rates, Charges, and Public Notices)

Mosquito and Vector Control services are funded by special levies on properties that were approved by property owners following special mail-out ballot procedures in 2004-06, and most recently in 2025. The rates are adjusted with inflation and are subject to an annual hearing before the County Board of Supervisors.

The 2025 County-wide Benefit Assessment showed ballot support of 61% and was approved by the Board of Supervisors on November 18th, 2025. These new charges will appear on property tax bills beginning in Fiscal Year 2026-27. Most single-family homes will pay an additional $11.99 per year, with a smaller per-unit assessment for multi-family housing.

Rates for Fiscal Year 26-27 (Updated 5/5/2026):

To find your specific property charge, search the charge tables using your parcel number (found on your property tax bill). Again, South County property owners should add their charges from the three tables, CSA No. 53, 53S, and County-Wide Mosquito, Vector and Disease Control Assessment. North County property owners should add their charges from two tables, CSA 53N and County-Wide Mosquito, Vector and Disease Control Assessment). In general, South County property rates are slightly higher (more need for mosquito and vector services and less density of parcels) but receive a greater proportion of our resources.
